Environmental Home Improvement

Green Construction and Green Home Remodeling Serving the Greater Los Angeles Area with Healthy Homes!

Environmental Home Improvement (EHI), established in 1994, is a general construction and remodeling company with a mission to improve existing houses into homes that are healthy, energy efficient and sustainable.

EHI brings together the following skills and techniques:

  1. Scientific knowledge of chemicals in building materials
  2. Building Science principles of energy efficiency and indoor air quality (IAQ)
  3. Conventional and alternative medical understanding

We evaluate this myriad of information to identify and incorporate each client's needs and interests. The final creation is more than a unique and beautiful place to live. This new environment will improve the health of the residents by eliminating toxic emissions. And, we can reduce your operational cost.

Having been in business for over 16 years, Environmental Home Improvement is one of the most experienced construction firms in Los Angeles in using low and zero Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) products, which include formaldehyde wood and insulation materials. These materials are factors in creating toxic indoor air quality.

Environment Home Improvement is one of the oldest green contractors in Los Angeles. Many contractors now claim to be 'green' but lack the experience to correctly work with green products and material. As the green formulations are different than traditional formulations, methods to apply them correctly are different than traditional construction. At EHI we not only understand the chemical basis of green products, we have over 16 years of experience in green residential construction.

EHI is Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis (RRP) certified in Lead Paint per the EPA and State of California rules that became effective in 2010. This certification is required to do any remodeling work on pre 1978 houses in California.
